Mrs Jane Coldicott is responsible for the day to day management of the practice and will deal with any problems or queries concerning the practice. She will be happy to speak to you and hear your comments - good or bad.

Working alongside the practice manager are two part-time deputy practice managers (covering both surgeries), two senior receptionists, 13 part-time receptionists, four part-time computer operators, three medical secretaries, three clerical assistants and two cleaners.

Reception

The receptionists have a difficult job to do and are here to help you. Please remember that if you are kept waiting or are asked some apparently irritating questions it is because our policy is aimed at the smooth and safe running of the practice. We do need to ascertain the urgency of particular requests and sometimes spend longer with patients than we have allowed.

Community Midwives

Midwives provide care for mothers before the birth of the baby and for a fortnight afterwards. Regular antenatal clinics are held at Rayleigh and Hockley.

Community Nurses

Community nurses are attached to the practice and are responsible for nursing care in the community. They are available when necessary. They can help with dressings, removal of sutures, injections, give care and advice to the acutely and chronically sick and the terminally ill, as well as advice and help with incontinence, if you are housebound.

Health Visitors

Health visitors are registered nurses who have further specialist training, particularly relating to expectant mothers, pre-school and school age children and the elderly. Services include development assessments, child health clinic, counselling and health education.
